“For many years I worked together with the NGO CET SUR to develop various projects defending the cultural identity and products of the Mapuche people.
In 2004 I became a member of Slow Food, began to collaborate with the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity, and work with Presidia and food communities. Since then I have become even more committed and active. The significance of the work I had done together with CET SUR was enhanced and I began to develop greater social involvement, which resulted in the creation of the Frontera del Sur de Chile convivium. In a short time it became a focus for food and food sovereignty issues in southern Chile. The convivium has grown and is working to forge links with other social groups, such as consumer groups, small farmer organizations and associations for consumer and producer rights.”
